Internship Opportunities

  • Clinical internships support our Mental Health Program by providing counseling services in Marin County middle and high schools and at our center.

    Clinical work:

    -Individual therapy

    -Group therapy

    -Services take place both in schools across Marin County and at our center

    Supervision:

    -1-2 units of triadic/individual supervision per week (depending on trainee’s caseload)

    -1 unit of group supervision per week

    Support and learning:

    -Comprehensive onboarding

    -Weekly team meetings and/or didactic training

    -Bi-weekly all-staff meetings

    -Outreach, community events, and trainings

    -Supported by the clinical supervisor/Director of Mental Health, Wellness staff on school campuses, etc.

  • Interns work directly with the chief development & communications officer and learn transferable skills in nonprofit communications, social media, web management, graphic design, and press & media. Interns will help develop, implement, and evaluate communications and marketing practices specifically for the LGBTQ+ and HIV communities of Marin County.

  • Academic internship for graduate or undergraduate students in any field. Interns work directly with the chief development officer. Interns learn transferable skills in grant research, grant writing, individual donor cultivation, donor database management, event fundraising, corporate sponsorship, and more.

  • Academic internship for graduate or undergraduate students in any field (we’d love to have social work, nursing, or public health students in this spot!). Interns work directly with the Harm Reduction Director as well as our Outreach Coordinator and Phlebotomist. Interns learn harm reduction practices working with unhoused individuals and those suffering from substance abuse disorders. They learn transferable skills in harm reduction and health promotion by providing syringe exchange, Narcan distribution, and resource navigation.

  • Inviting graduate and undergraduate students to an academic internship, especially those in gender and women's studies, social work, ethnic studies, communications, or public health. (Spanish speaking applicants preferred.) Interns will gain proficiency in creating and delivering compelling training sessions, along with essential business skills. This unique opportunity involves collaboration with the Director of The Training Institute, active engagement in curriculum development and evaluation, impact assessment, partner identification, proposal drafting, and navigating training contracts. This hands-on experience enhances professional development and skills. Join us for this enriching opportunity. There is room for multiple interns to participate and contribute to this enriching academic internship experience.

  • Academic internship for graduate or undergraduate students in any field (we’d love to have finance, business, or computer science students in this spot!). Interns will learn how to develop, implement, and evaluate operational policies and procedures in collaboration with the operations manager.

  • Interns will be actively involved in planning engaging events, fostering relationships with community stakeholders and assisting in volunteer recruitment. This hands-on experience is ideal for students enrolled in relevant programs who seek to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills while working towards the betterment of LGBTQ+ and HIV communities of Marin County.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2024 internships.

Our internship opportunities provide high schoolers, undergraduate, and graduate students with high-quality experiential learning opportunities at an LGBTQ+ community-based nonprofit organization.

Requirements:

  • Open to high school students, and students enrolled or completing educational programs at accredited higher educational institutions.

  • Must commit to working for at least one full semester and a minimum of 8 hours per week.

  • With the exception of graduate-level clinical internships, all internship opportunities are unpaid, however course-credit or funding through intern’s college or university may be available.
