Syringe Services & Overdose Prevention

We are striving to get to zero on new HIV infections and fatal overdoses in Marin County.

Syringe services are a proven strategy to prevent HIV, Hep C, and overdose among people who use drugs. We utilize a harm reduction approach - meaning we don’t judge or stigmatize people who use drugs, and we provide necessary harm reduction supplies to prevent HIV, Hep C, and overdose.

What is offered at The Spahr Center’s harm reduction outreach sites?

In addition to clean syringes, we offer:

  • Free Narcan and Narcan trainings

  • Fentanyl test strips

  • Safer use equipment such as sterile glassware

  • Rapid HIV and Hep C testing

For clients looking for medically assisted substance use treatment, we also offer navigation services to treatment providers.

Narcan Distribution and Training

We proudly distribute free Narcan to people who use drugs, community agencies, and anyone in Marin who wants to be prepared to stop an overdose. We also offer free training on how to use Narcan! Contact Justice Allred (he/him), interim director of harm reduction, for more information.
